Many homeowners within the Watershed
experienced flood damage during intense rain events during July and August of 1999. As
a result of concerns and complaints from local residents, a project was initiated to
delineate and update the floodplain and to provide a well-informed basin wide flood
control plan that will result in reduced flood damages throughout the Watershed. Mesa
County (County) retained HDR to address the needs identified by the citizens of Bosley
W~sh. The Colorado Water Conservation Board (C'i\'CB) and the Grand Junction
Drainage District (GJDD) were also sponsors of this study effort.

1.1 General Scope

The overall project involves providing a Floodplain Delineation for the Bosley Wash
basin, an Alternative Drainage Facility Evaluation, and a Preliminary Drainage Design.
Each element of the scope represents a Phase of the project. This report represents the
Phase 2 effort and addresses the Alternative Drainage Facility Evaluation elements of the
project.

1.2 Phase 1 Effort

Phase 1 of the Bosley Wash Drainage Master Plan is defined in HDR's Scope of Work
Submittal dated December 12, 2000. The original scope was modified to include the
additional work products outlined in Mesa County REF DEF-71-00 Attachment A and
the subsequent Addendum 1 submitted September 29, 2000. Phase 1 of the project
consisted of the development of a floodplain delineation. A report has been prepared and
submitted to Mesa County that presents the hydrologic analysis of the Watershed, flood
profiles along the main channel of Bosley Wash and the Stub Ditch drainage channel, and
a floodplain delineation along those same drainageways.

, ,,~;';';tl~-:lV~tiL' .
,/'0;. r
( /'\~4"";'
~.;':;~~l:Tr'~"!~

Page 1

~

@'1
