Task 3 Workshops on Revegetation and Crop Rotation Design
• Prepare explanatory materials, schedule meetings, provide background
information, and arrange participation of desired experts and scientists.
• Report findings and research needs identified.
• Engage CSU Co-operative Extension, selected scientists from
neighboring states with expertise, USDA Natural Resources
Conservation Service, USDA Agricultural Research Service, and other
groups, and develop design with Colorado Water Resources Center
advice.
Method
• Building on previous workshops as finally reported in Fall 2007, with
advice from the Committee, Wiener will follow previously successful
pattern of assembling an expert panel to address each of the topics in
separate one-day workshops.
• Summaries of workshops will be circulated as draft reports for
correction, amendment and additions, and revised summaries will be
again circulated.
• After additional revisions or additions, reporting will be made to the
Committee and in the public report to CWCB and all.
Deliverables
• Synthesis and observations report on findings, with report on discussion
as approved and supplemented by the participants and other contributors
(e.g. people unable to attend but wanted, and people identified outside
the region but knowledgeable).
• Additional comment by Committee, and Basin Roundtable
• Recommendations on potential participation improvements and means of
involvement in water arrangements
• Recommendations for future activity in this area. NOTE: The workshop
form of inquiry is designed to quickly and economically identify areas
where there are high concerns or important unknowns, and areas where
knowledge supports application directly, as in design of a rotation for a
given purpose. Please see "rationale for inquiries", above, for further
description of the importance of the goals.
Task 4 Facilitation of Water Transfer Committee Meetings and Inquiries
• Assist in preparation of explanatory materials, scheduling meetings,
providing presentations, and facilitation of meetings of both the
Committee and for the inquiries as described.
Method
• Skilled and informed facilitation methods.
Deliverables
Successful meetings with improved understanding by all participants.
