or a representative gage. The interface will be enhanced to duplicate these estimating
procedures in order to present daily data for all structures.
18.4 Enhance the StateMod GUI to read output time series from the binary output files.
Currently, the StateMod GUI accesses model output by running StateMod in report mode and
then parsing the resulting files. This approach is somewhat slow. To increase performance,
the binary files will be accessed directly. This enhancement is expected to identify currently
unforeseen issues related to implementation of a model database, as proposed for later phases
of the SPDSS development.
18.5 Implement Animation Features. The enhancement described in Task 18.4 will streamline
access to model output. Therefore animation features will be implemented in this subtask
using the map interface. These features will include specifying an animation period and the
time to pause between time steps. Once an animation is started, model input and output will
be retrieved from in-memory values and the output files. The resulting values will be
displayed on the map as vertical bars and/or other symbols. Reservoir storage will be
indicated by a special symbol similar to the USBR "teacup" diagrams.
18.6 Advanced Time Series Analysis. To streamline the evaluation of data and results, a new
time series analysis tool will be implemented. It is expected that the features of this tool will
be expanded in future years of the SPDSS. In this task, basic features will be implemented to
perform common data analysis. For example, prepare a report showing the cases where a
time series value is above a threshold value. This capability will help evaluate critical
criteria associated with a data set.
18.7 Graph Reservoir Area Capacity Data. Enhance the reservoir view to allow a graph of
reservoir area and capacity to be generated.
Deliverables:
18.1 An updated StateMod GUI with documentation that includes a graphical interface for
building and editing a model network.
18.2 An updated StateMod GUI with documentation that allows a list of time series for a
structure to be selected from the structure's edit window or the map, for streamlined
graphing.
18.3 An updated StateMod GUI with documentation that allows all annual average and daily
time series to be graphed.
18.4 An updated StateMod GUI with documentation that reads output time series from
StateMod's binary output files, in order to increase performance.
18.5 An updated StateMod GUI with documentation that allows for an animation of model input
and output, showing data as symbols on the map interface.
