Specific Task Descriptions
Task 18 -StateMod GUI Enhancements
Objective:
Enhance the StateMod GUI application to streamline creation of model data sets, evaluation of
results, presentation of data and to be consistent with other CDSS components.
Background:
The addition of a network editor to the StateMod GUI will utilize the components developed in
Task 137 in order to facilitate use and simplify maintenance.
Other enhancements expected to be required to handle water administration issues that are
unique to the South Platte such as augmentation plans, direct flow substitutions, daily flow
routing, a priority call report and special South Platte administrative issues are expected to be
performed under a separate scope of work in a subsequent phase.
Approach:
18.1 Incorporate Model Network Editor. Task 137 will result in a graphical interface for
building and editing a model network within StateDMl. This component will be added to the
StateMod GUI to facilitate constructing, viewing and editing the model network. It is
envisioned that the StateDMl application features initially developed in Task 137 (see text)
will allow both a map and network schematic display to be utilized during creation of
StateMod data sets. The background map can be used as a reference to position nodes in the
model network or can be turned off. The StateMod GUI will maintain this functionality by
allowing specific edits to an existing data set. Additionally, the basic network editor will be
extended to interact with data screens for StateMod data.
18.2 Enhance StateMod Input/Output Time Series Displays. The number of files in a
StateMod data set has increased over time. Most current time series displays in the StateMod
GUI allow a single time series to be displayed in a window. The StateMod GUI will be
enhanced to allow input and output time series to be grouped for display and editing. For
example, when a structure is displayed in an edit window, the user will be able to select from
all of the time series parameters that apply to the structure and a graph of the resulting
selections can be displayed. Alternatively, apop-up menu on the map will be enabled listing
the time series available for the structure. The "time series templates" will also be replaced
with newer file formats that support graph properties including title, legend symbols, etc.
18.3 Graph Annual Pattern and Daily Time Series. Currently, average annual and daily time
series are not accessible as graphs throughout the interfaces, as are monthly data. The
interface will be updated to allow average annual and daily time series to be graphed.
StateMod allows some daily data to be estimated on the fly using an interpolation algorithm
