a ~..
O ~~
Task 153 -Review and Test Stored Procedures for All Queries
Objective:
Review and test stored procedures for all CDSS tools that interact with HydroBase.
Background:
The State of Colorado has recommended using and begun development of stored
procedures to access data from HydroBase. Therefore the Sl?DSS Year 2 efforts
implemented a framework to support stored procedures in Java programs. However,
limited resources for State IT staff have prevented stored procedures from being reviewed
and tested (when implemented, the software will use them automatically). Also, software
such as TSTooI and StateView provide open-ended (dynam;ic) query abilities that are not
easily supported by stored procedures and need further revie;w.
Additionally, the State is moving away from Microsoft Acaess databases in favor of SQL
Server Express, for databases provided to non-state HydroBase users. The former does
not support stored procedures while the latter does. Moving; to SQL Server Express will
require system enhancements.
Approach:
The following activities will allow full support for stored procedures:
153.1 Review and Test Stored Procedures. Coordinate with State IT staff to review
and test the use of stored procedures in all CDSS software that interacts with
HydroBase (StateView/CWRAT, StateDMI, TSTooli), while enhancing some
query screens.
153.2 Support State During SQL Server Express Implementation. Provide support
to the State IT staff during the implementation of S~-L Server Express databases,
to replace Microsoft Access databases. This effort will include software
modifications to support database configurations. It is expected that this effort
will not include major modifications to software -only changes to allow
connections with the new databases will be implemented.
153.3 Documentation and Software Release. Update the software documentation and
issue a software release to the State of Colorado and CDSS contractors.
Deliverables:
153.1 Updated StateView/CWRAT, StateDMI, and TSTooI software, to support full
stored procedure use. The stored procedures developed by the State will be tested by
RTi.
153.2 Support provided to the State in order to implement :HydroBase in SQL Server
Express.
153.3 Updated Java software, with documentation.
16
