Task 18 -StateMod and StateMod GUI Enhancements
Objective:
To enhance the StateMod and StateMod GUI software to facilitate and streamline
modeling efforts, while maintaining compatibility and consistency with StateDMI and
other CDSS software.
Background:
The StateMod GUI allows modelers to interactively view and edit StateMod data sets.
The interactive features complement the batch-mode data preparation of StateDMI and
TSTooI. In particular, the StateMod GUI provides tools that operate on an entire dataset,
whereas StateDMI typically operates only on one or a few data products at a time. The
enhancements indicated below will maintain compatibility with current StateMod model
software and allow StateMod and the GUI to be used more efficiently by a wider
audience.
Assumption:
Documentation describing new StateMod file formats will be provided to RTi by the
State. If the specification is not final, RTi will help finalize the specifications via email
and phone correspondence before significant development starts.
Approach:
18.1 Update StateMod GUI software to utilize new StateMod file formats. The
following files are being modified, to allow data file creation to be sequential,
without updates to files during the process:
1. The diversion stations file (*.dds) is being split into multiple files
containing diversion station parametric information, efficiencies, and
delay table assignments.
2. The well stations file (*.wes) is being split into multiple files containing
well station parametric information, efficiencies, delay and depletion table
assignments.
3. The reservoir stations file (*.res) file is being split into multiple files
containing reservoir station parametric information, accounts, climate
station assignment, area/content/seepage, and delay table information.
Low-level software to read and write these files will be developed in Task 141
(StateDMI). The StateMod GUI will be updated as follows:
The response file display will list the new separate files, while also being
backward compatible to read old data sets that do not use the separate
files.
2. The GUI components that display/edit the data will be updated to reflect
new internal data structures.
4
