1. Add instrument height and solar radiation measurement height to the climate
stations file and associated set/fill commands.
2. Add commands to read, filUset, and write ASCE Penman data, similar to the
existing Blaney-Griddle crop coefficients file.
141.3 Update commands to handle new crop type naming conventions. Modeling
efforts have resulted in the generation of crop coefficients and characteristics for a
variety of consumptive use methods (e.g., original and modified Blaney-Griddle,
high-altitude coefficients). In order to minimize user errors, crop names in
StateCU data sets will follow the form ALFALFA . TR2 1, where the . TR21
extension indicates the specific CU method. The following StateDMI
enhancements will be implemented to support this approach:
1. The writeBlaneyCriddleToStateCU(),
writeCropCharacteristicsToStateCU(),and
writeCropPatternTSToStateCU () commands will be updated to use
a 30-character width for crop names, to handle the longer names with the CU
method extension. A check will also be added to ensure that crop names DO
NOT include spaces. This is required because StateCU is being updated to
read the files free-format.. An optional Version parameter will be enabled,
allowing the older format to be written (this will allow files to be created that
can be compared with old files, which is useful when checking data). Note
that although the file formats are free-format, it is desirable that columns be
written with a specified width, to facilitate visual inspection.
2. The readBlaneyCriddleFromStateCU () ,
readCropCharacteristicsFromState(),and
readCropPatternTSFromStateCU () commands will be updated to
handle the new format with longer crop names. Because the associated files
will be treated as free-format, the updated software will also be able to read
the older format files (assuming that spaces are present only between data
columns and not within data).
3. A sortCropCharacteristics () command will be added to sort crop
characteristics by crop name. This will result in StateCU files that are more
usable when read into the StateCU GUI.
141.4 Add features to support HydroBase database queries from the StateCU GUI.
The StateCU GUI is being updated to address usability issues, in particular to
simplify preparation of input data. The approach will utilize calls to StateDMI
and TSTooI in batch mode, using simple commands files, in order to query data
from HydroBase. In this approach the StateCU GUI does not need to know how
to access HydroBase directly, but relies on StateDMI and TSTooI. All the data
processing available in StateDMI and TSTooI could then be available to the
StateCU GUI, if needed. (Note that it is envisioned in a future SPDSS phase that
time series processing for diversion time series will be moved from StateDMI to
TSTool; however, for the. following activities with current software it is necessary
19
