Task 141-StateDMI Enhancements
Objective:
Enhance StateDMI to support SPDSS modeling activities.
Background:
TSTooI and StateDMI are the primary data processing tools used to prepare data sets for
StateCU and StateMod. TSTooI focuses on time series data and StateDMI focuses on
other model data files. The StateDMI enhancements that are identified in this task
address the following specific needs:
1. Enhance StateDMI to support additional model data and changes to model file
formats.
2. Increase basic usability through changes in the interface.
3. Improve error handling.
4. Increase ability to verify software functionality through automated testing.
Assumptions:
1. Changes to the HydroBase design will be made by the State's HydroBase DBA and
corresponding stored procedures will be provided to RTi.
2. Example data files and corresponding file specifications will be provided by Leonard
Rice and the State.
Approach:
141.1 Add support for StateCU climate data set processing. Currently, StateDMI
focuses on structure-based processing, where information for each location being
modeled (e.g., county, HUC, latitude) is determined from structure tables in
HydroBase. StateCU can also be used for general climate station modeling where
locations are climate stations and "unit" crops are modeled. This provides a data
set that can serve as a general reference. To create climate station data sets, the
StateDMI software will be updated as follows:
1. Commands to process CU locations will be updated to optionally read from
HydroBase station tables. The default will be structures.
2. Commands that read climate stations will allow wildcards to request climate
stations by water division, county, and other regions, if available in
HydroBase.
141.2 Add/enhance commands for StateCU ASCE Penman method. To date,
StateDMI has focused on processing data for the Blaney-Griddle method for
StateCU. However, support for the ASCE Penman method is required to support
Phase 4 StateCU work. The following StateDMI enhancements will be
implemented:
18
