data on surface water and groundwater levels. All levels will be referenced to a temporary
benchmark that will be placed at each location.
Streambed permeability from the field tests and the estimated values based on the grain size
correlation will be analyzed to determine average values on a reach by reach basis.
Streambed geometry will be defined for these same reaches using-the channel cross-sections.
Vertical gradients will be defined for each reach based on observations from the temporary
piezometers and channel water surface elevations. This information will be developed in a
series of GIS coverages for use in groundwater modeling under Task 48.
All results will be entered into aHydroBase-compatible electronic database and checked for
quality control before its migration into Hydrobase. CDM will work with the HydroBase
administrator to add additional parameters that maybe required.
Task 34.2 Surveying
The temporary benchmark placed during the stream conductance fieldwork will be surveyed
by a licensed Colorado surveyor using differential GPS methods to obtain state plane
coordinates (1 foot accuracy) and elevation (.i foot accuracy). All relative elevations will be
updated to MSL elevations after determination of the temporary benchmark elevation. It is
anticipated that the surveying will occur within two months of the field activities described
under Task 34.1 to minimize the chances of the temporary benchmark being disturbed.
Deliverables:
Task 34.3 Streambed Conductance Technical Memorandum
A technical memorandum will be prepared that summarizes ail field data, the correlations
between permeability and grain size distribution, .and estimates of streambed permeability,
Streambed geometry and vertical gradients for each reach. The report is anticipated to be up
to 20 pages in length not including figures, tables and appendices.
The consultant will provide a digital copy (in both Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat
format) for review and comment by the State. The consultant will incorporate the State's
comments and recommendations and provide a final technical memorandum, also in digital
(Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat) format. Figures that are prepared in GIS format will
also be provided in electronic ArcGIS format including supporting metadata descriptions and
all files necessary to reproduce the figures following the project GIS conventions that will be
provided by the spatial data contractor. Data in digital format suitable for importation into
HydroBase will be provided
SPDSS Groundwater SOW, Phase 3
