This script will read unit response zones from a ground water
model or a map of SDF bands, which represent both timing and location of irrigation return
flows and depletions from well pumping, a list of key and aggregated surface and
groundwater structures, and a shape file of irrigated lands. The script will create the
required return flow (*.rtn) file for StateMod. Test and confirm the applications
functionality by applying it to the South Platte basin.
18.9 Update and enhance the existing StateDGI tools for the ground water modeling portion of
SPDSS. Coordinate with the ground water contractor to define the functionality of the
latest GMS modeling interface and its expected use in SPD5S. Investigate the potential for
migrating some of the functionality of StateDGI to use a custom tool approach and the
latest GMS interface where appropriate. For example, GMS maybe able to distribute the
pumping from individual wells to model layers directly with adequate attributes in a well
shapefile. If this is feasible this functionality maybe removed from StateDGI. In addition,
StateDGI will be ported to the ArcGIS software package. Test and confirm the applications
functionality by applying it to the South Platte river basin.
18.10 Document each custom tool developed for the ArcGIS software package.
