Documentation of water savings and the
customer satisfaction survey summary will be reported in the 100% and 95% completion
reports respectively.
Preliminary Obstacles and Solutions
The original Caroma selected for the grant had a 12 inch rough in. Most of the older
housing stock in Northglenn has a 10 in rough in. Installing the originally selected toilet
would require considerable modification to the existing plumbing and associated costs.
The original bowl was swapped out with a bowl that can be fitted to either a 10 or 12 in
rough in. This is accomplished by using an offset adaptor. This modification cost the
City $7,000. There is no change in the dual flush system therefore; no change in
estimated water savings is expected. The only other obstacles encountered were minor
and mostly related to overlooked details. Giving away 500 toilets in one day presents
challenges. I suspect giving away 500 toilets in one day in the heat of the summer will
take this challenge to a whole new level.
Summary
The City has successfully completed all identified tasks to date, modified procedures to
maximize efficiencies, and addressed obstacles encountered. The next phase is the
giveaway, followed by the data collection and final reporting phases.
