The user will have previously specified that the MODSIM network model will be modified to
?
include a new node or to delete an existing node . MODSIM will provide a warning instructing the
user to recalculate the natural inflow for the immediate downstream node.
nodeflow
All low level DMIs will be developed under Task 1.05 (Systems Integration). The DMI utility
will be developed under Task 1.15 (Water Right s Planning).
nodeflow
The DMI utility will be run from the command line by speci fying the program name, input file,
and output file. The command line syntax is shown below:
nodeflow <basin>.NCT <basin>.INF
The DMI utility requires as input an ASCII text control f ile, <basin>.NCT. The input file will include user-
specified information for all inflow nodes within the river basin being modeled. The following information
is included for each inflow node:
The user will specify the output units of monthl y natural streamflow in acre-feet or hectare-
?
meters. The default output units will be acre-feet. The output units must be consistent with the
units of the CRDSS core stati on natural streamflow data.

By specifying order numbers, the user will be able to identify the model nodes of interest for the
?
following items:
-Location of the model inflow node for wh ich natural streamflow and inflows will be
estimated.
-Location of the immediate upstream inflow nodes that have prior estimates of natural
streamflow (this include s nodes on tributaries).
-Location of CRDSS core stations that will be used for estimating natural streamflow at the
model node of interest. The CRDSS core stations selected by the user should be
representative of the hydrogeologic character istics for the basin containing the node of
interest. A minimum of two CRDSS co re stations should be selected.
The user will specify the tributary drainage ar ea and the mean basin elevation for the model node
?
selected previously. Additionally, the user will specify the tributary dr ainage area and the mean
basin elevation for each CRDSS core station selected previousl y. The water rights planning group
will make estimates of drainage areas and mean ba sin elevations for all CRDSS core stations and
model inflow nodes as part of the initial setup of the MODSIM network.
In order to distribute the estimated average a nnual natural streamflow at the inflow node of
?
interest into monthly values, the user will speci fy which CRDSS core station selected previously
will be used for the monthly distribution. On ly one CRDSS core station can be selected.
The required format of the ASCII text input control file is shown below in Table 1.
2
A275 01.09.95 1.15-16 Hyre, Fosha
