A low-level DMI will be available to retrieve the number of primary upstream diversion and
?
storage structures and their ID numbers. This low-level DMI will also be able to retrieve the
number of upstream basins in which unique unit consumptive use data are available, along with
a basin ID number that identifies and corresponds to the upstream basins.

A low-level DMI will be available to retrieve historical storage contents, diversions (for basin
?
imports and exports), unit consumptive use, and gaged streamflow data on a monthly time step.
Reservoir storage data will be available as end-of-month storage contents. Historical data will
be available in units of acre-feet or feet (depending on the type of data retrieved). Note that all
in-basin diversions and return flows occurring within the basin are represented in terms of
consumptive use or streamflow depletion.

A database utility will be available that locates and retrieves the assigned order numbers of the
?
physical river basin system. Order numbers will establish a unique identifier for nodes, stream
gages, and water right structures. This database utility will be developed in Tasks 1.05 and
1.08.

The procedures to estimate natural streamflow at USGS gaging stations will be fundamentally
?
similar to the procedures used by the CRSS.
coreflow
All low-level DMIs will be developed under Task 1.05 (Systems Integration). The DMI utility
will be developed under Task 1.15 (Water Rights Planning).
The DMI utility will be run from the command line by specifying the program name, input file, and
output file. The command line syntax is shown below:
coreflow <basin>.CCT <basin>.NAT
The DMI utility requires as input an ASCII text control file, <basin>.CCT, which contains the station ID
number of the USGS gage of interest and user specified options. The input information will be repeated
for each USGS gage that will be used as a CRDSS core station within the river basin being modeled.
coreflow
The DMI utility will include the following options that will be specified in the ASCII text file:
The user will specify the following for the USGS gaging station for which monthly natural
?
streamflow will be estimated: a) the USGS station ID number, b) the order number relating the
physical location of the gage to the MODSIM model network, and c) an alphanumeric name.

The user will specify the output units of monthly natural streamflow in acre-feet or hectare-
?
meters. The default output units will be acre-feet.

The user will specify the period of years that natural streamflow will be estimated. The default
?
study period will be 1975 to 1990.

The user will specify the total number of upstream sub-basins in which unique unit
?
consumptive use data are available.

2
A275 01.09.95 1.15-15 Hyre, Fosha
