as expected, and the results were identical to StateCU results with the exception of a few
minor rounding differences.
Compare Enhanced StateMod Results to Previous CRDSS Historic Model Results and
Historic Measurements. The results of the monthly Historic Yampa River basin simulation
using the variable efficiency and soil moisture options (Enhanced Model) were compared to
Previous CRDSS results and historic measured data. The comparison concentrated on the
recent period 1976 through 1996. The results were assessed to determine the effect of
variable efficiency and soil moisture calculations on the model calibration by comparing
simulated versus CRDSS simulated diversions, streamflows, and reservoir contents. A
comparison was also made between simulated and measured diversions, streamflows, and
reservoir contents. The streamgages, diversion structures, and reservoirs highlighted in the
calibration section of the Yampa Model documentation were chosen as representative. The
locations of these comparison points are shown in Figure 1.
In addition, overall basin results were compared. Structures with large variations in
efficiencies were chosen to review the effects of the StateMod enhancements during wet,
average, and dry years. The crop consumptive use estimated by StateMod was compared to
the crop consumptive use estimated by StateCU.
VariableEff Taskl-5 2 of 17 November 5, 2001
Figure 1
Location of streamgages, Diversions, and Reservoirs used in Calibration Comparisions
