some two-point curves for reservoir systems in the development of a StateMod reservoir
structure file (*.res).
Monthly Net Evaporation Rates
Net evaporation rates specific to key reservoir locations in the SPDSS study area were developed
based on the net evaporation rates developed for each Water District based on locations above or
below 6,500-feet in elevation (see Task 53.3 memorandum). A reservoir commands file will be
created in StateDMI during the surface water modeling effort for the development of a StateMod
net evaporation file (*.eva).
Reservoir Account Ownership and Storage Capacity
Information gathered related to reservoir accounts and their operations are included in the 28
memoranda developed for SPDSS Task 5. Information provided by owners/operators regarding
account ownership is summarized in Table 2. Without this information, storage facilities will be
assigned one owner and one account. Operations associated with reservoir accounts will be
addressed during the surface water modeling effort in a StateMod operation rights file (*.opr).
Active storage capacity data provided by owners/operators of facilities will be used, if available,
followed by information contained in HydroBase regarding total storage capacity and dead
storage in the development of a StateMod reservoir structure file (*.res). Without information
from these or other sources, the active storage capacity will be set to maximum historical end-of-
month contents with dead storage equal to zero.
Historical end-of--month content data have been reviewed for most of the key storage facilities to
identify any records greater than the available storage capacity. These reviews identified some
errant end-of--month contents data that have been revised, as appropriate, by the Division 1
Engineer's office and included in updates to the HydroBase database.
Maximum Outlet Release Capacity
Maximum outlet release capacity is used by StateMod as a potential limit in the simulation of
reservoir operations. Information provided by owners/operators and Water Commissioners will
be used in the development of the StateMod reservoir station file (*.res) commands file for the
key reservoirs in the SPDSS study area. Missing data will be filled with information contained in
HydroBase; otherwise, maximum outlet release capacity for key reservoirs will be based on a
review of the complete end-of--month contents data developed in Task 80. The same
methodology should be used for the off-channel reservoirs.
RECOMMENDATIONS
The reservoir structure information for key reservoirs gathered for this effort will be used to
develop the reservoir structure file (*.res) and reservoir rights file (*.rer). The available
information, summarized in the memo tables should be considered works in progress with
additional information incorporated as it becomes available. The *.stm files developed for the
key reservoirs will provide the basis for the eventual development of the StateMod historical
end-of--month contents file (*.eom) and reservoir targets file (*.tar).
