- If no related information is available, outlet release capacities should be estimated based
on the maximum change of historical end-of--month contents (actual or calculated), based
on a constant release rate during the month.
RESULTS
Storage Water Rights
Absolute storage water right data available from HydroBase is considered complete. A reservoir
commands file will be created in StateDMI during the surface water modeling effort to access
storage water right information included in HydroBase for the development of a StateMod
reservoir rights file (*.rer). The command file will initially include only key reservoirs. It will be
revised to include the individual facilities within reservoir systems once the ResSysQ command
is coded in StateDMI to address reservoir systems.
Historical End-of-Month Contents
Historical data included in HydroBase were used as the first source of information for the 101
reservoirs, comprising 51 key reservoirs and reservoir systems in the SPDSS study area.
Commands files were created in TSTooI to:
• Access available content data from HydroBase,
• Fill missing data for key reservoirs with SEO Records or user records summarized in
StateMod format files (*.stm),
• Linearly interpolate to fill any remaining missing periods of up to two months,
• Fill missing data with wet-, dry-, or average-year monthly averages based on the fillpattern
file (*.pat) created in Task 80 using the following key stream gages identified in Task 2:
- Water District 1: 06714000, South Platte River near Kersey
- Water District 2: 06720500: South Platte River at Henderson
- Water District 3: 06752000, Cache la Poudre at mouth near Ft. Collins
- Water District 4: 06738000, Big Thompson River at Mouth of Canyon near Drake
- Water District 5: 06724000, St. Vrain Creek at Lyons
- Water District 6: 06724000, St. Vrain Creek at Lyons
- Water District 7: no missing reservoir data filled in Water District 7
- Water District 8: 06714000, South Platte River at Denver
- Water District 9: 06710500, Bear Creek at Morrison
- Water District 23: 0669500, South Platte River above 11-Mile Canyon Reservoir, near
Hartsel
- Water District 47: no missing reservoir data filled in Water District 47
- Water District 64: 06764000, South Platte River at Julesburg
- Water District 80: no missing reservoir data filled in Water District 80
Missing content data for off-channel reservoirs in reservoir systems were filled in Task 80
based on the ratio of total storage capacities and complete end-of--month contents for other
off-channel reservoirs in the same reservoir system, as described previously.
Area-Capacity Curves
A reservoir commands file will be created in StateDMI during the surface water modeling effort
to incorporate area-capacity curves provided by owners/operators and Water Commissioners and
Page 4 of 11
