PHYSICAL INFORMATION
Wilson Supply Ditch originates in Water Division 1 District 76 and termin ates in Water Division
1 District 3 in Larimer County.
Construction of Wilson Supply Ditch began in 1899. In 1902, water diversions were first
recorded. The earth-lined Ditch was historically used to provide irrigation water to the Eastern
Slope.
Length:
Unknown
Capacity:
At least 156.0 cfs. (156.0 cfs was the maxi mum daily diversion recorded on June 10,
1965).
Diversion Measurement Device:
Ditch Outlet
DWR WDID: 0304604
USGS ID: 06750500 - Wilson Supply Ditch near Eaton Reservoir
Datum: 8,930 feet above sea level NGVD29
Conveyance Efficiency:
The Ditch is earth lined.
HydroBase Data:
Diversions are reported as continuously monitored st reamflow records and as
administrative records by Colorado DWR. C ontinuously monitored streamflow data for
Station 06750500 are available for daily and monthly diversions from prior to 1950
through water year 2002. Administrative da ta for Structure 7600600 are available for
daily and monthly diversions from 1999 th rough water year 2002. Both continuously
monitored streamflow records and administra tive diversion records are available through
Colorado DWR HydroBase. In addition, George Varra, Water Commissioner for
Division 3, also keeps monthly diversi on records for Wilson Supply Ditch in a
spreadsheet with other transbasin diversion records.
Available diversion data for Wilson Supply D itch was reviewed and compared to identify
the best available data source (shown in Figure 2). Monthly di versions for Wilson
Supply Ditch are presented in Table 2. The preferred set of data identified for Wilson
Supply Ditch was the continuously mon itored data for Station 06750500. When
compared to the other available inform ation sources, the data at Station 06750500
displayed the following characteristics:
The longest period of record,
The most complete set of data prior to and throughout the period of study,
Corresponding monthly and daily dive rsion data available, and
Continues to be operated as a re cording device through present.
WilsonSupplyDitch.doc 4 of 8
