Diversion records for inflow to and releases from Chambers Lake are available in
HydroBase under the same Structure ID for 1973 through 2002.
Review of the historical end-of--month storage indicates that Chambers Lake fills to
capacity in most years; however, from the late-1980's to early-1990's and in 2002,
Chambers Lake did not fill to its available capacity.
Diversion coding indicates that water diverted into Chambers Lake regularly includes
natural streamflow, transbasin diversions associated with Skyline Ditch, Cameron Pass
Ditch, Grand River Ditch, Laramie Poudre Tunnel, Horsetooth Reservoir, and Windy
Gap Project, and exchanges with Reservoir Number 8, Fossil Creek Reservoir,
Horsetooth Reservoir, and Long Draw Reservoir.
Water released from Chambers Lake
regularly includes water for augmentation
or substitute water supply plans and
releases for the WSSC System. Releases
for the WSSC System are primarily directed
for use in the Larimer County Canal.
However, through established agreements,
water released for the WSSC System has
been used at Barnes Meadow Reservoir,
Greeley Filters Plant, Fort Collins Pipeline,
North Poudre Supply Canal, and the
Poudre Valley Canal.
Chambers Lake Dam c.1905
Flood Control/Hydropower Operations: Chambers Lake is not managed for flood control or
hydropower operations.
WaterSupply&Storage Memo.doc
9 of 21
