SYSTEM OVERVIEW <br />The Harold D. Roberts Tunnel (Roberts Tunnel) delivers water stored in Dillon Reservoir under <br />the Continental Divide into the North Fork of the South Platte River. The original name of the <br />Tunnel was the Blue River Tunnel, later changed to Montezuma Tunnel, and finally Harold D. <br />Roberts Tunnel. The namesake of the Tunnel, Ha rold D. Roberts, was the Water Board attorney <br />who assisted Denver in securing water rights on the Blue River for eventual transfer to the <br />Denver metro area. Roberts Tunnel is the longest water delivery tunnel in the world. <br />Roberts Tunnel is a part of the Roberts Tunnel <br />Collection System; a system designed to capture and <br />store Blue River water and subsequently deliver that <br />water to the Eastern Slope for use in the Denver <br />Metropolitan Area. Facilities of the Roberts Tunnel <br />Collection System include Dillon Reservoir and <br />Roberts Tunnel.
