East Portal Datum: 9,205 feet above sea level NGVD29
West Portal Datum: 9,091 feet above sea level NGVD29
Tunnel Outlet: 15 foot Parshall flume equipped with an A-35 recorder and satellite
linked monitoring system.
Conveyance Efficiency: The Tunnel is concrete lined.
HydroBase Data: Diversions are reported as continuously monitored streamflow records and as
administrative records by Colorado DWR. Continuously monitored streamflow data for
Station 09022500 are available for daily and monthly diversions from prior to 1950
through water year 2002. Administrative records for Structure 5104655 are available for
daily and monthly diversions from 1985 through water year 2002. Both continuously
monitored streamflow records and administrative diversion records are available through
Colorado DWR HydroBase. In addition, Denver Water maintains monthly Moffat Water
Tunnel diversion data from 1950 through 2002.
Available diversion data for Moffat Water Tunnel was reviewed and compared to identify
the best available data source (shown in Figure 2). The preferred set of data identified for
Moffat Water Tunnel was the continuously monitored data for Station 09022500. When
compared to the other available information sources, the data at Station 09022500
displayed the following characteristics:
• The longest period of record,
• The most complete set of data prior to and throughout the period of study,
• Corresponding monthly and daily diversion data available, and
• Continues to be operated as a recording device through present.
MoffatTunnel.doc 5 of 10
