This
siphon was replaced with manual gates in the late-1970s to convey water from the Hansen
Feeder Canal to Green Ridge Glade Reservoir. The City has a contract with the Bureau to carry
75 cfs in the Hansen Feeder Canal. The physical capacity of the Hansen Feeder Canal is
estimated at 550 cfs. Releases from the reservoir are made through gated tower outlet works.
There are 6 outlet gates that merge into one 54" outlet pipe at the valve house. This pipe is then
divided into a 42" pipe to the potable treatment plant (72 cfs capacity), a 24" knife gate for
emergency evacuations and a 14" control gate for controlled releases to the river (e.g.,
replacement releases). Releases to the potable water treatment plant are measured separate from
river diversions into the plant. Seepage losses from the reservoir are expected to be low as the
bottom of the reservoir enlargement was dug down to bedrock. An area-capacity curve for the
enlarged reservoir was provided by the City of Loveland and is included in Table 1.
HydroBase Data
The monthly data over the 1950-2002 period of record pertaining to the Green Ridge Glade
Reservoir is fairly sparse as the City did not actively operate the reservoir except in emergency
situations.
City of Loveland Operating Memorandum.doc Page 7 of 15 January 5, 2005
