The Superintendent of the ditch company is more often in contact
with these individuals during periods of storage and during periods when direct flow calls have
been placed downstream on the South Platte River.
OPERATIONAL INFORMATION
The general operating strategy for the Lower Latham Ditch and Reservoir System in a typical
year is as follows:
Irrigation Season
The irrigation season usually begins near April, 1st, where between 40-50 cfs are pulled into the
Lower Latham Ditch from the South Platte River to irrigate fields. Irrigation demand increases
through April and by the first week in May the ditch is typically being run near 200 cfs. Between
May and September, the ditch is operated to run near 210 cfs, with direct flows from the South
Platte being the primary water source.
