HydroBase Data: Historical end-of--month storage records are available for Worster Reservoir
in HydroBase under Structure ID 0303726 for most of the 1950 through 2002 SPDSS
study period, as shown on Figure 3. Review of the historical end-of--month storage
records indicates that since the 1970's, Worster Reservoir fills in most years. However,
in drought years, such as 2002, Worster Reservoir did not fill.
2) Poudre Valley Canal System
The Poudre Valley Canal System includes the Poudre Valley Canal and those reservoirs filled
through the Poudre Valley Canal, identified herein as the Poudre Valley Canal Reservoir System.
The Poudre Valley Canal System lies between the NPIC System and the WSSC System.
Poudre Valley Canal (Structure ID 0300907)
The Poudre Valley Canal headgate is located on the north side of the Cache la Poudre River
approximately 2 miles downstream from the confluence of the North Fork and mainstem of the
Cache la Poudre River. Poudre Valley Canal shares its headgate with Canon Canal Company
Ditch. Water for the two ditches is taken through the same headgate; however, since 1987
diversions for Canon Canal Company Ditch have been reported under a separate structure
identifier in HydroBase (0301188). In addition to diverting water directly from the Cache la
Poudre River, Poudre Valley Canal can receive Colorado -Big Thompson (C-BT) water directly
through the Windsor Extension of the Hansen Supply Canal.
The earth lined Poudre Valley Canal travels in a general easterly direction through Larimer
County within Water District 3 and terminates at Cobb Lake, as shown in Figure 2. Douglas
Reservoir, Little Windsor Reservoir, Annex No. 8, Elder Reservoir, and Cobb Lake are filled
Larimer&Weld Memo.doc
6 of 20
Figure 3: Worster Reservoir Storage Records
