direct flow right is out of priority near the end of the irrigation season, Fort Morgan will
go to `half head' delivery, or 220 cfs in the canal. The `half head' delivery stretches out
the reservoir release water to allow for deliveries into September. When `half head'
delivery occurs, irrigation wells are typically in use.
• Diversions for irrigation needs will typically stop near the middle of September, and the
canal will only continue to divert water for the Western Sugar Plant through the winter
months.
• Fort Morgan will typically run augmentation water and use the canal as the recharge site
during spring and in the last couple of weeks in October, prior to the reservoir filling.
Fort Morgan can run augmentation water to recharge sites other than the ditch while
diverting irrigation water, and typically does so in the early spring or during heavy
runoff.
re to find more information
The Water District 1 Meeting Notes prepared for SPDSS Task 3 -Identify Key Diversion
Structures contain additional information on ditch and reservoir operations within the
water district.
^ The Irrigated Acreage Assessment GIS Coverage prepared for SPDSS displays the area
served by the Jackson Lake & Fort Morgan Canal System.
