Diversions for 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1970 for the Homestake Pipeline were estimated at
an annual level of 2,500 of/year based on understanding of early Aurora operation of the
Pipeline and a reported annual value (approximately 2,700 af) that existed for 1969.
Annual Diversions for the 1967 to 2002 period of operation:
Average (1967-2002) = 12,760 acre-feet
Maximum (2001) = 47,540 acre-feet
Minimum (1984) = 0 acre-feet.
The preceding data is presented in water year due to the availability of data at the time
this report was prepared. If this data is used for future modeling efforts, it is
recommended that the data be analyzed in calendar year.
Monthly diversions for Homestake Pipeline into the South Platte Basin are presented in
Table 1.
WATER RIGHTS
The water transported through the Homestake Pipeline by Aurora is derived from eight separate
water systems. Brief discussions of these water systems are provided below. The reader is
referred to the indicated water right cases for further information (water rights, limitations) on
these water sources.
Homestake Project: Aurora and Colorado Springs share the yield (50% each) of the
Homestake Project which diverts water from a series of collection and diversion
