Boulder's share of these Projects is delivered through the Boulder Feeder
Canal, which is operated by the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District (NCWCD). A
small amount of water enters Boulder Reservoir from the drainages of Dry Creek and Little Dry
Creek.
Through decreed water right changes the City may also convey water to Boulder Reservoir by the
Farmers Ditch (Structure ID 0600525), which diverts from Main Boulder Creek near the mouth of
Boulder Canyon. Supplies from the Farmers Ditch are limited to the period April through
October, i.e., irrigation season. Additional information concerning the City's water rights is
provided below.
The City's water supply at Boulder Reservoir may be treated for municipal use at the Boulder
Reservoir Water Treatment Plant. The capacity of the Boulder Reservoir Plant has just been
increased from 10 MGD up to 16 MGD during the winter of 2004-2005.
In addition to treating water from Boulder Reservoir at the Boulder Reservoir Treatment Plant,
water may be released back to Boulder Creek via the Boulder Supply Canal. The Boulder Supply
Canal is a concrete lined channel that has a capacity of 200 cfs and enters Boulder Creek just
upstream from the City's wastewater treatment plant outfall. The Boulder Supply Canal conveys
C-BT water to other owners of C-BT units downstream of the City. The City of Boulder has the
preferential right to use all of the 200 cfs capacity of the Boulder Supply Canal for purposes of
releasing water to be exchanged to the City's upper Boulder Creek basin facilities.
City of Boulder Memo.Doc Page 14 of 30 March 9, 2005
