Smaller reservoirs
that store raw water include Quincy Reservoir (active capacity = 2,698 ac-ft), Rampart Reservoir
(active capacity = 1,295 ac-ft) and Strontia Springs (700 ac-ft under contract from Denver
Water), but these reservoirs are typically used for terminal, operational storage (rather than year
to year carryover) and, therefore, are not included in the summary below.
Table 6
Aurora's Principal South Platte Basin Storage Rights
Water Active Aurora Appropriation Water Court
Name WDID
Source Storage Interest
Date Admin. Spinney Mtn
Reservoir is also listed as a destination (and storage) for various exchanges.
Note that no storage rights are associated with Aurora Reservoir.
Exchange Rights
Aurora maintains a variety of exchanges. The principal Aurora exchanges are listed in Table 7.
These exchanges allow Aurora to reuse consumable effluent by exchanging that water to
Aurora's upstream storage space at Spinney Mtn or Strontia Springs Reservoirs, or to the Cherry
Creek Wellfield to meet replacement requirements associated with alluvial well pumping. Como
Reservoir and Columbine Reservoir are potential reservoirs for Aurora in the Tarryall Creek
Basin.
City of Aurora Operating Memorandum 16 of 29
