Storage Rights
StateMod input files describing reservoir storage rights and other reservoir information were
developed using a command file to execute the DMI watright. This command file utilized the Rio
Grande network file (rg.rin) to identify all reservoir structure stations for which to extract
information from HydroBase. Several "set" commands were used in the command file to set
information such as reference evaporation stations, area-capacity tables, reservoir account sizes,
and to "tie" specific storage rights to specific accounts. The storage rights associated with those
reservoirs located in Division 3 are shown in Table 2. Rights associated with Eastdale Reservoir
No. l and Eastdale Reservoir No.2 are combined in the surface water model which represents a
single "EastRes" storage structure (these two reservoirs are operated together as effectively one
storage vessel). Storage rights associated with Costilla Reservoir are discussed below.
Table 2
Storage Rights for Explicitly Modeled Reservoirs
Name Admin. Decreed
Number Amount (af)
1. Because several water users
within Colorado rely on direct flow diversions from Costilla Creek and storage releases from
Costilla Reservoir, these features are explicitly represented in the Rio Grande Surface Water
Model.
C:Acdss\Task6-8.doc Prepare Reservoir Files September 7, 1999 -Page 2 of 7
