Appendix A: Instructions to Query Picks from HydroBase for Contouring the Denver Basin
Bedrock Aquifer Surfaces
iii. Query 3
1. KAUS > 0 or KALS>0 (1453 records)
2. Remove where KAUB > 0 and KALB >0 and KAUB <> KALB (914
Records) (These picks would represent divided sand picks)
3. Use KAUS and KALS picks
C. Dawson Picks
1. In Access database, Wells and Geophlogs tables were linked up in a query. Selected fields were
chosen from the Wells table (location information) and all fields were chosen from the Geophlogs
table. The table was exported to Excel.
e. TDWB
i. TDWB= Picks were filtered in Excel where "Aquifer'' _ 'LTDW' or 'TDW' and
"Glogbase° > 0. If TDWLB disagreed with TDWB then both picks were
excluded. (It is assumed that all picks stored as TDWUB representing the TDWB
surface are duplicated in TDWLB)
2. In Access the Geophlogs table was pivoted from a many record per Well ID to a one record per
Well ID table format by using update queries. X, Y values were added to the pivot table from the
Wells table. This allowed all picks for a single log to be evaluated in the same row. The pivoted
table was imported into ArcGIS and converted to a shapefile to filter picks.
f. TDWT:
i. Query 1
1. Select TDWLT >0
2. Remove all picks outside of northern Lower Dawson region
3. Remove where TDWUB > 0 (These picks indicate aquifer still divided)
4. Use remaining TDWLT picks (12 records)
ii. Query 2
1. Select TDWT >0 or TDWUT >0 (53 records)
2. Exclude if both not null and not equal
g. TDWUB:
i. Select TDWUB > 0 and located within and up to 3 miles outside of the Divided
Dawson boundary
ii. Remove picks where TDWUB =TDWLB (277 records) (These picks would
represent TDWB)
iii. Use remaining TDWUB picks
h. TDWLT
i. Select TDWLT >0 and located within and up to 3 miles outside of the Divided
Dawson boundary (347 records)
ii. Use remaining TDWLT picks
i. TDWUS
i. Select TDWUS >0 and located within and up to 3 miles outside of the Divided
Dawson boundary (137 records)
SPDSS Phase 2 Task 42.2 TM -Final A-3
2/13/06
