Colorado Ui~lch Ii'etlanc~s Beach Test
Tech»~cal ~1len~oranc~rin~
2.~ Weekly Collection of Water ~z~alityAligz~ots for Laboratory Analysis
For this bench test eight «eeks ~yorth of s~unple sets will be taken, August, 2006 thru October, 2006;
four «ater quality- aliquots will be obtained from all five cells, and the Colorado Gulch «ater holding
tank (head tank). The aliquots to be obtained include: Milieral Acidity- (MA), Sulfate, Total Metals
(TOTS, and Dissolved Metals (DISS). Justification for the selected parameters measured for this test
is described in Table 2. A duplicate sample and a field blank will be taken for ever- 20 samples
collected for Qualit<~ Assurance/Quality- Control (QA/QC) purposes. Appendix B contains the weeldv
sampling schedule to be conducted for the duration of this bench scale test.
Table 2 -List of Analytes of Interest
Matrii Analytes of Interest Pur ose of Measurement
Cell influent (Head Ca Estimate limestone consumption.
Tank)
Total Metals (Al, Cu, Fe, Mir, Zn) Establish bench mark for estimating
total metal removal efficiency.
Dissolved Metals (Al, Cu, Fe, Mir, Zn) Establish bench mark for estimating
dissolved metal removal efficiency.
pH, ORP (oiidation-reduction Important design parameters.
potential), specific conductivity,
dissolved oiv_ gen, temperature, odor,
color.
Determine cell performance.
Sulfate (SOS)
Cell effluent from Ca Estimate limestone consumption.
auziliai~- ports.
(Cells 1-~) Total Metals (Al, Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn) Determine cell performance.
Dissolved Metals (Al, Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn) Determine cell performance.
pH, ORP, specific conductivity, Determine cell performance.
dissolved oxygen, temperature, odor,
color
Determine cell performance.
Sulfate (SOS)
Aliquots collected for MA anal~-sis were collected in sample bottles supplied b5T ACZ. The aliquots
are grab samples taken directly from the discharge tubing by CMC NRM and/or TU personnel.
Samples for MA did not need to be preserved: therefore the~T ~yere immediately- contained in a 4°C
enviromnent until shipment.
