COLORADO WATERSHED PROTECTION Fi_JND <br />CHIPETA DAM REMOVAL PROJECT FINAL REPORT <br />by <br />NORTH FORK RIVER IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION <br />March 30, 2006 <br />PROJECT TITLE: Chipeta Dam Removal Project <br />PROJECT START DATE: September 15, 2005 <br />PROJECT COMPLETION DATE: February 16, 2006 <br />FT_]NDING: TOTAL BUDGET (including in-kind): $94,431 <br />TOTAL CWPF GRANT: $5,000 <br />TOTAL MATCH ACCRUED: $89,431 <br />BUDGET REVISIONS: $5000 of CWPF funds were used for equipment <br />mobilization and staging area, acquisition and transportation of large <br />diameter boulders, and acquisitioi~/planting of willows and removal of <br />non-natives. The original scope of work outlined these funds would be <br />used for demolition of the structure and water control, but this cost was <br />ultimately covered by in-kind work performed by the US Fish and <br />Wildlife Service. <br />TOTAL CASH EXPENDITURES: $26,690 <br />SUMMARY ACCOMPLISHMENTS: <br />The US Fish and Wildlife-owned Chipeta Dam stn~cture was demolished and the site <br />restored with native plants, bai~lc stabilizing rock vanes, and a natural riffle-pool-nul river <br />sequence. This allows for upstream migration of fish, safe passage of recreational boats, <br />and improved wildlife habitat. <br />
