This objective was satisfied, as described in
the following sections.
2.1 Selection of Wells
Wells were evaluated for this task by applying the following criteria approved by the State
SPDSS team:
• Well must be completed in only one aquifer as defined by the Denver Basin Rules,
2 CCR 402-6 (DWR 1985)
• Well must be located in the Denver/South Metro area or in the Colorado
Springs/Monument area, which are considered pumping centers of the Denver Basin
• Well must not pump during the duration of the water level data collection
• Well must not have an obstruction which would prevent installation of a data logger
• Well must be able to be secured for the protection of the data logger
• Access to the well will be granted by owner twice per year for the next two to three
years for data retrieval
• No nearby pumping well in the same aquifer (within approximately one half mile) is
active during the duration of the water level data collection
A list of candidate wells was compiled from wells identified through the measurement program
SPDSS Phase 3 Task 39 Technical Memarandum -Final
09/27/2006
