The
objectives of each task are presented below in Table 1.
Table 1 Phase 2 Field Data Collection Tasks and Ob'ectives
Task Objective Applicable Region
Task 35 Construct up to 27 alluvial observation wells to provide Denver Basin, Lower
h dro eolo is data South Platte
Task 36 Construct and test one bedrock well that will provide Denver Basin
h dro eolo is data
Task 37 Collect aquifer property data from bedrock aquifers by Denver Basin
performing aquifer tests at existing high-capacity wells
Task 39 Collect water level data in the fall after the irrigation season Denver Basin, Lower
South Platte
2.0 Field Data Collection Objectives
Phase 1 of the SPDSS compiled available information on aquifer configuration,
hydraulic properties, and water levels. This work also included installation of wells
and a testing program to supplement existing data sources. Analysis of this
information was summarized in a series of technical reports that included definition
of areas where limited data are available. The field investigations summarized in this
work plan are intended to provide additional information to fill in some of these data
gaps. These areas have been prioritized to select locations that will best meet the
objectives of the SPDSS. The field programs include installation and testing of alluvial
and bedrock wells, and monitoring ofpost-irrigation season water levels.
The data gap areas, also referred to as interest areas, identified in Phase 1 activities
were primarily established in locations where aquifer property data were lacking. In
these areas, the SPDSS Phase 1 field program installed small-diameter observation
wells near high-capacity production wells to gather aquifer property data via mulh-
~.~.-~
Z:\SPDSS\10-CDM DELIVERABLES\PHASE 2 FIELD WORKPLAN\FINAL DRAFT\FINAL SPDSS TASK 33 2 WORK PLAN.DOC
