Section 3
Field Data Collection Procedures
monitored by the CSU water level monitoring program. Water level data from the
remaining 33 wells added to the SPDSS monitoring network will be solicited from
cooperating entities and put into a HydroBase-compatible format. Locations of
alluvial water level monitoring wells are presented in Figure 2-3.
CDM will collect measurements of the depth to water at each well using methods
comparable to those currently used by the State during their 2005 spring-season
measurements. The measurement date, time, well identification number, measuring
point location, casing stickup height, and other descriptive information pertinent to
the measurements will be noted and recorded in a field notebook. The procedure for
measuring water levels is presented in Appendix B.
3.3 Task 39 Surveying
Wells in the SEO water level monitoring program that have not been surveyed during
Phase 2 for horizontal and vertical control will be identified and prioritized for
surveying during Phase 3. A Colorado licensed surveyor using differential GPS
methods will be subcontracted to provide horizontal and vertical (elevation) data for
the selected wells. The temporary benchmarks at streambed conductance transects
will also be surveyed unless CDM and the State determine that data from the CWCB
Flood Protection Group renders this activity unnecessary. The elevation data will be
used to prepare potentiometric surface maps of the groundwater surfaces in the
aquifers that will have a much greater accuracy than previous maps. It is anticipated
that up to 80 wells will be surveyed under Phase 3.
Horizontal control will be surveyed to 1-foot accuracy and vertical control will be to
within 0.1-foot accuracy. Survey results will be reported in NAVD 1983, UTM Zone 13
for horizontal control with vertical control in NAVD 1988.
`~ ~
3-6
FINAL SPDSS T33 WORK PLAN &3-OS.DOC
