March 3, 2008
to tell the GBRT members his perspective on the Arkansas Basin and on the water issues in
the Arkansas.
6. Roundtable Membership
There were three applications to fill two At-Large vacancies on the Roundtable. There was
not a quorum present, so no action could be taken.
Applicant Steve Shea was given recommendations by members Olen Lund, Ron Shaver and
Keith Catlin. It was decided that the applicants would be invited to the next meeting.
7. Miscellaneous
Ralph Grover announced that another member would need to be appointed to the Project
Selection Committee to fill the position left by Pete Kasper.
Ken Spann suggested that Roundtable members familiarize themselves with a construction
bill (HB 1346) being introduced by the CWCB. This bill authorizes the CWCB to acquire
water rights (not by appropriation or by donation) for the purpose of instream flow and there
is a caveat that expands the CWCB authority. This bill may be the first opportunity in
history for the State to own water rights. John McClow believes that the last sentence of the
bill could be directed at the water in the Aspinall Unit.
Steve Glazer requested an addition to the April meeting agenda. He wanted to have CDM
present the non-consumptive environmental information with maps for the Roundtable to
review. The maps would help the Roundtable see where different environmental areas
overlap.
Next Meeting
The next meeting of the Gunnison Basin Roundtable will be April 7, 2008.
Adjourn
There being no further business to come before the Roundtable, the meeting adjourned at 5:20 pm.
Mike B erry, Recorder
4
