MEMO -TASK 91
2.4 Water Users and Water Commissioners Meetings
Meetings with water users were held to obtain and verify information on irrigated parcel boundaries,
ditches and diversion structures, water source, and crop type. This information was used to help match
wells to irrigated parcels as described in the previous Section 2.3. Figure 6 shows a flowchart of the
approach taken in meetings with water users. The verification procedure used in District 47 varied
slightly from the procedure for Division 1. The District 47 procedure which used extensive inputs and
expertise from the Water Commissioners is documented in Appendix H.
^ Diversions
Generate Irrigation Wells
Hardcopy maps of irrigated parcels Ditches
^ Hydrography
^ Irrigated
Meet With Water Commissioners Parcels
~ Review maps and obtain contact Service Areas
information for ditch companies Orthophotos
Contact and Meet with Ditch
Companies
Explain purpose of project and review
maps of irrigation service area, irrigated
parcels, ditches, and diversions
Edit Maps
Make corrections to parcels and service
areas with input from meetings and check
edits with notes and maps

Review and Final Mapping
Figure 6. Approach to Water User Meetings
2.4.1 Generate Hardcopy Draft Maps
Draft maps were printed for the irrigation meetings with water users. The draft maps showed irrigation
diversion structures, delineated parcels by service area, crop type, water source, service area boundaries,
and well locations overlaid on either USGS DRG or DOQQ imagery. The draft maps were printed at
1:40,000-scale. A map at a smaller scale was printed for ditch companies requiring more detail.
2.4.2 Meet with Water Commissioners
Water commissioners were contacted to obtain information about active irrigation systems and contact
information for ditch companies in their district. All of the water commissioners in Division 1 met with
RTi. The meetings consisted of reviewing all the irrigation service areas in the District to understand the
entire system at a broad scale. The water commissioners reviewed diversion structures, irrigated parcels,
service area boundaries, water source, and crop type. Their input was essential in understanding system
operations and creating a preliminary draft product.
Page 7 of 55 ~R~versfde FecAno[o`(!~Y fnc.
4'JaYer Resources Errgi~ecr:np an~i L~ar+suFlrnd
