changed from a Sun SPARCstation running Sun OS 4.1.1 to a SGI Indy running IRIX 5.2, some
porting issues needed to be resolved. The memory allocation and manipulation functions
needed to be updated, and some issues regarding the change from X11R4 to X11R5 were
solved.

Modifications were made to evapotranspiration maps to make them compatible with CRDSS.
?
Some features were removed, fixed, or added in this process.
Subtask 5: Quality Control for Data Population
While incorporating data into ARC/INFO and GRASS from different formats of acquired data,
?
data quality has been checked. These quality checks include overlaying the display of geo-
referenced spatial data, such as county boundaries versus stream junctions, versus dam
locations, versus city locations, versus diversion structure locations, versus contour lines, from
elevation data and so on.

Vector coverages were imported from ARC/INFO into GRASS and overlaid on a raster
?
coverage generated with a predefined grid size (e.g. 50m X 50m). On regional coverages, such
as State and county boundaries, soil, land use, and hydrologic units, an error of less than 0.1
percent was measured. On the irrigated acreage coverage where the range of size for parcels
goes below 2 acres, a grid size of 10m X 10m was generated to provide an error of less than
0.15 percent. Both of these seemed to be within acceptable limits.
Subtask 6: Visual Data Browser Tool
The overall design of the VDB interface was completed and implemented.
?

The VDB interface was incorporated into the CRDSS script and installed on the State's machine.
?

Continual enhancements to the VDB interface included fixing bugs, displaying multi-
?
maps, setting app-default files, setting environment variables, manipulating color maps,
helping through the Mosaic interface, and writing man pages.

The Visual Data Browser Reference Guide was developed and is available in the Mosaic
?
on-line documentation. It went through at least three distinct revisions.
Subtask 7: Develop DMI Software
The specific types of data needed by the consumptive use model were identified. This work
?
included identifying low-level DMIs needed to retrieve information from the database.

Task Memoranda 1.14-10 through 1.14-13 were written to describe low-level DMIs needed to
?
retrieve information from the database.
Subtask 8: Produce Hard-Copy Maps
IDS has purchased a Hewlett-Packard (HP) plotter used for printing the CRDSS hard-copy
?
maps.

3
A 275 01.08.95 1.06-4 Lange
