In GRASS, the CRDSS areas were selected. This involved ?clipping? data by the Colorado
?
State boundaries (including a 100-mile buffer in some cases) and then selecting the areas west
of the Continental Divide.

A task memorandum detailing the coverages and data populated was prepared. To view a
?
detailed listing of final data and sources, please read Task Memorandum 1.06-3.

A procedure for transferring the data from ARC/INFO to GRASS has been developed and is
?
documented in a revised version of Task Memorandum 1.06-2.

A number of structures and the associated irrigated parcels were obtained from the State. A
?
map was generated showing the areas being served by each structure.
A number of reports were generated showing statistics for the GIS coverages.
?
Subtask 2: Establish GIS INFORMIX Link
Existing GRASS 4.0 functions were sorted and updated to GRASS 4.1 in a library format on
?
the Silicon Graphics Incorporated (SGI) workstation.

Data management interfaces (DMIs) were developed to retrieve data stored in the relational
?
database (physical characteristics, station, and historical) corresponding to locations displayed
in the visual data browser (VDB).

A link between IDS Group machines (IRIX 5.2) and the RTi INFORMIX server was
?
established to link VDB site maps with data in the INFORMIX database.

A link from GRASS to the INFORMIX database was established and tested.
?

Links from GRASS to INFORMIX for climate data (min, max, and average temperatures),
?
precipitation, and flows were then created.

Data stored in INFORMIX can now be accessed by clicking on the VDB maps showing the
?
crdssgr
sites for each type of data. The graphs are being prepared using the utility.
Subtask 3: Finalize Database Design
The database design was finalized.
?
Subtask 4: Updating and Porting Software
ARC/INFO was installed on the IDS SGI (Fall).
?

GRASS 4.1 was installed on the IDS SGI (Fall). This included fixing some bugs in the GRASS
?
code that showed up in the more sensitive SGI compiler.

The current interface for evapotranspiration maps (a project jointly sponsored by the Colorado
?
Water Resources Research Institute and the State Engineer's Office of Colorado) developed by
the IDS Group was ported to the SGI from a SUN workstation. Since the running platform has
2
A 275 01.08.95 1.06-4 Lange
