The ability to search for a feature given the feature name, e.g., given a diversion name,
?
move the mouse to that location and/or pull up a detail of the feature.
The ability to display information in user-specified units, (e.g., SI or English).
?
The ability to generate hard-copy plots of the display, and text printouts of the database
?
information (extent of this feature to be determined).
The ability to filter data (e.g., diversions according to capacity), will only be included
? ?
at the request of modelers or where such a feature is needed for QA/QC. (It is
assumed that Year 1 activities will concentrate on a specific number of structures;
therefore, the development of an all-encompassing query tool would use funds that are
needed elsewhere - more query features can be added in Year 2 as more data are
available from the database.)
The display tool will display data in three graphical formats:
(1)Raster maps which are based on a grid system, where each cell in the grid is assigned one
value.
(2)Vector maps which are line segments defined by their end points; connected line segments
or polygons can be assigned one value for each polygon.
(3)Icon-based site maps with an icon representing the data collection site.
In some cases the user will be able to select sites, lines, cells, or polygons and query the data stored
in INFORMIX. The spatial data to be displayed by the GIS component of the display tool during the
first year will include:
river reach (vector - stream order will affect display when zooming in)
?
municipal location (icon)
?
topography/elevation (raster)
?
soil type (raster)
?
crop type of irrigated lands (raster)
?
surface water feature (raster or vector, to be determined)
?
water district and division boundary (vector)
?
county boundary (vector)
?
reservoir and dam location (icon)
?
diversion structure location (icon)
?
4
A275 05.10.94 1.05-16 Malers
