and to lookup the nearest feature to a mouse click. Database information will be selected for display
by using a select menu (lower left in figure). For example, selecting "Reservoir" will mean that
clicking with the mouse on the display area will display the detailed form for the nearest reservoir.
The data will be displayed using the appropriate routine from the database display library, as
described above. The manner in which some of the displays are arranged will be decided after
studying options in more detail. For example, database select options may require more information
than just a latitude and longitude and therefore may not immediately result in a form being displayed.
Also, shortcuts can be made available, such as accelerator keys and mnemonic selections.
This tool will serve as the link between the location of data (displayed on a map) and the
INFORMIX database. The tool provides a link to tabular data with unique identifiers for each of the
spatial features (a site, line, or area). The unique identifier is also present in the relational database,
residing in the Geoloc table, and is the key in linking a spatial feature to tabular data in the relational
database.
GIS Controls
GIS displays here
Zoom...
Overlays...
DB Selects...
Diversions
Reservoirs
Gages
Figure 1.
