or a more specific request like:
send "Documentation - Electronic Distribution of Documents" as
PostScript
Ideally, the index would be requested first, and then requests for specific documents would follow.
Team members would be notified of new versions of documents via phone, E-mail, or other
communications.
3.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The electronic storage and distribution of internal project documents could increase the efficiency of
distributing information and could therefore decrease the resources devoted to distributing
documents. Electronic distribution could also elevate project communications to a new level through
the additional use of electronic communications. However, since the dollar benefit in implementing
such a distribution scheme is currently unknown, it is recommended that such a procedure be
implemented over time as the benefits of the system become more clear. Electronic distribution of
documents could be ignored if benefits are not shown. The following recommendations assume that
the procedure is implemented:
Documents distributed electronically would consist of commonly-used time-sensitive
?
documents such as task memoranda and address lists. Documents could be stored in
different forms such as WordPerfect, PostScript, and text.
Documents would be stored in a central location that could be accessed by project
?
personnel.
Documents would be distributed using E-mail, anonymous FTP, or UNIX file copies.
?
2
A275 05.10.94 1.05-10 Malers
