Colorado River Basin Tributaries in Colorado Consumptive Uses and Losses Report 1986-1990 Introduction This report presents estimates of the consumptive uses and losses from the Colorado River basin within Colorado for calendar years 1986 through 1990. For certain consumptive use categories, historical results from the Colorado River Decision Support System (CROSS) Water Resources Planning Models are used in the generation of this report. Therefore, an attempt has not been made to duplicate the USBR drainage delineation. Comparisons can be made of the total consumptive uses and losses within Colorado. The individual basins are as follows: • Upper Colorado River basin • Gunnison River basin • Yampa River basin • White River basin San Juan River and Dolores River combined basin This memorandum includes a breakdown of consumptive uses and losses by the following major uses: • Crop Consumptive Use • Livestock Consumptive Use • Stockpond Evaporation • Reservoir Evaporation • Municipal Consumptive Use • Mineral Resources Use • Thermal Electric Power Generation Use • Exports A report format similar to the "Colorado River System Consumptive Uses and Losses Report, 1986 - 1990" prepared by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) was adopted for the following reasons: It is anticipated that the USBR may wish to use the consumptive uses and losses generated by the state of Colorado in their future analysis. Decision-makers in Colorado are accustomed to viewing results in this format. Nothing is this report is intended to interpret the provisions of the Colorado River Compact (45 Stat. 1057), the Upper Colorado River Basin Compact (63 Stat. 31), the Colorado River Storage Project Act, (70 Stat. 105; 43 U.S.C. 620), or any other legal document effecting the management and operation of the Colorado River. culossapp Page 2 of 24 09/30/1999
