cuclimat DMI Inputs
4.1
The DMI is passed the name of a control file defining thesub-area and time parameters selected by the
user. This file is read by the DMI as it builds the low-level DMI input data structure. Control files have
?.ctl? as a suffix. For more information about the ?.ctl? file format, see the man page for cu_ctl.
Area and time parameters:
?
A list of spatial identifiers describing the specified sub-area. (county name, water district number,
hydrologic unit number, combination [county, hydrologic unit], combination [water district, id], or
Location Number (geoloc_num) ).
?
The begin year for the model run.
?
The end year for the model run (>= begin year).
cuclimat DMI Outputs
4.2
The files generated by this DMI are formatted based on the methods used in the CU model. The output
files have the same name as the control file except for the file name suffix. Files having a ?.wbc? suffix
are formatted for Blaney-Criddle. Files having ?.wpm? as a suffix, contain data formatted for Penman-
Monteith and/or Blaney-Criddle. For more information about the file formats, see the man pages for
cu_wbc and cu_wpm. Where data are not available, the null indicator is used.
Data to be returned by the DMI, for files having data for Blaney-Criddle (?.wbc? as a suffix):
?
number of spatial identifiers describing the specified sub-area
?
number of unique weather stations in the specified (the union of the spatial identifiers) with data on
one or more of the following: monthly temperature, monthly precipitation
?
begin year (i.e. 1990)
?
end year (i.e. 1992)
?
precipitation weights per year per spatial identifier DEFAULT (CRDSS-CU recommended weights
per county-huc)
?
non-precipitation weights per year per spatial identifier DEFAULT (CRDSS-CU recommended
weights per county-huc)
Data describing each unique weather station in the specified sub-area:
?
weather station name (string)
?
latitude and longitude (dec degs)
?
elevation (ft)
Data required from each weather station:
?
28 deg spring frost month, day per year
?
28 deg fall frost month, day per year
?
32 deg spring frost month, day per year
?
32 deg fall frost month, day per year
?
mean temperature per month (deg F)
?
precipitation per month (in)
5
11.29.96 2.09-18 IDS/CSU
