found no significant difference between "Meeker" a nd "Meeker No. 2". The period of records at
Meeker 3W is not long enough to allow similar comparisons. For consumptive use studies prior to
1992, use of the Meeker No. 2 station is recommended.
Hydrologic Unit 14050006, Garfield County
The USBR recommended changing from the Little Hills station to the Meeker station because the
Meeker station is closer. The map of irrigated land provided by CSU-IDS showed no irrigated area in
this unit. It is noted that this unit consists of lands near the Colorado River divide. The Roan Plateau
appears to produce local orographic effects, based on inspection of the NOAA weather atlas; therefore,
the precipitation at Altenbern (16.08 inches) would be more represen tative of this unit than that at
Meeker No. 2 (12.45 inches). If a weather station is necessary for analysis, the Altenbern station should
be used.
Hydrologic Unit 14050006, Rio Blanco County
The USBR recommended changing from the Little Hills station to the Meeker station because the
Meeker station is closer. Based upon the location of the irrigated area with respect to the weather
stations and topography, it is recommended that the Little Hills weather data be utilized to the extent it
is available be use for this unit. If the Little Hills stations is not reactivated, the Meeker 3W station is
recommended as an alternative.
4.0RESULTS
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration weather stations recom mended for use in
CRDSS are listed in Table 5.
5
12.3.96 12.09-15 - Walter
