These two
muid seqnum muid seqnum
files are then used by a program called to create a file containing the total AWC
layerawc.f
.
for each The program uses the total AWC for each along
seqnum layerawc.f seqnum
with the percent that each represents of a to calculate the weighted AWC (ft/ft)
seqnum muid
for each unit. The program writes this information to a file called
muid layerawc.f
.
A sample of this file is shown below:
muid_awc.out
$RECNO MUID AWCT
29 CO001 0.101
45 CO002 0.099
65 CO003 0.049
83 CO004 0.127
103 CO005 0.135
122 CO006 0.133
150 CO007 0.091
176 CO008 0.125
203 CO009 0.099
221 CO010 0.080
244 CO011 0.087
Surface Texture
Calculation of surface texture was based on the SCS Colorado STATSGO database in an approach
generally similar to that used for AWC as described above.
The ARC/INFO coverage was used to identify the location of the mapping
/crdss_arc/scs/soil
units (the identifier in the polygon attribute table). This coverage and the necessary database files
muid
.
(texture and comp) were copied to the workspace The database file
/crdss_arc/scs/awc
describes the average percentages of sand, silt, and clay for each textural class as a
texture.lut
look-up table. The database file comp describes the sequa ( identifier) that comprise the
Seqnum
mapping units ( identifier). The following is the process by which a surface texture for each
muid
mapping unit was calculated using ARC/INFO:
1.Add the following items to the file comp:
sandformatted as 3 3 I
silt3 3 I
clay3 3 I
texttot3 3 N 3
.
2.Relate comp to by the item Calculate sand, silt, and clay in comp
texture.lut surftext
.
to be equal to sand, silt, and clay (* 100) in
texture.lut
:
3.Add the following items to the file
soilw.pat
3
A275 01.09.95 1.14-17 CSU IDS
