5. The results from the "Data Limits Summary" were combined and analyzed in an Excel
spreadsheet, resulting in a list of climate stations with more than 60 months of data.
6. Stations with both temperature and precipitation data, from Step 4 above, were compared
to stations with more than 60 months of data from Step 2 above. Stations not in both
subsets were eliminated from the overall dataset.
The selected climate stations were reviewed to ensure the inclusion of all climate stations
indicated as "key" and filled in previous DSS efforts, if those "key" stations had temperature,
precipitation and frost date data. The selected climate stations were also reviewed to ensure the
inclusion of the climate stations historically used in the HI Model in the Arkansas Basin.
TSTooI was used to create the required climate station temperature, precipitation and frost date
files. No data manipulation was performed on the statewide climate data files. The 261 climate
stations are summarized below in Table 1.
Table 1
Key Climate Station Information
Station
i Water Period of Percent Complete (1940 - 2003)
No. ID on Name
Stat Division Record
Temperature
Precipitation
1 109 AKRON 4 E 1 1918-2004 50.1 54.9
2 114 AKRON 1 N 1 1937-1999 86.4 86.5
3 130 ALAMOSA SAN LUIS
VALLEY RGNL 3 1948-2004 86.3 86.2
4 183 ALLENSPARK 2 NNW 1 1948-1993 60.4 62.7
5 185 ALLENSPARK 1 NW 1 1994-2004 16.0 15.8
6 214 ALTENBERN 5 1958-2004 71.2 86.5
7 228 AMES 4 1964-1986 15.0 56.4
8 263 ANTERO RESERVOIR 1 1961-2004 66.3 66.3
9 301 ARAPAHOE 14 N 1 1992-2004 18.0 19.4
10 307 ARBOLES 7 1957-1963 9.2 9.2
11 348 ARRIBA 1 1907-1958 25.4 26.5
12 370 ASPEN 5 1948-1979 46.9 47.4
13 372 ASPEN 1 SW 5 1980-2004 36.9 36.4
14 405 AVON 5 1981-1989 8.5 8.3
15 454 BAILEY 1 1948-2005 85.6 85.8
16 514 BASALT 5 1965-1972 9.7 10.4
17 581 BEDROCK 1 N 4 1997-2004 12.3 12.3
18 674 BERTHOUD PASS 1 1950-1985 33.7 33.7
19 776 BLANCA 3 1960-2004 67.1 85.6
20 797 BLUE MESA LAKE 4 1970-2004 28.3 56.5
21 810 BOND 5 1958-1975 24.1 23.6
22 834 BONNY DAM 2 NE 1 1949-2004 77.4 83.6
23 848 BOULDER 1 1948-2004 83.6 83.9
24 898 BRANSON 2 1951-1974 31.0 35.5
25 945 BRIGGSDALE 1 1963-2004 54.5 61.3
26 950 BRIGHTON 1 NE 1 1973-2004 47.4 47.6
27 1017 BROWNS PARK REFUGE 6 1966-1997 47.6 47.8
28 1060 BUCKHORN MTN 1 E 1 1988-2004 24.4 24.4
29 1071 BUENA VISTA 2 1948-2004 81.0 82.2
30 1121 BURLINGTON 4 S 1 1918-2004 95.5 96.3
31 1179 BYERS 5 ENE 1 1948-2004 86.2 86.4
Task 76_8_l.doc Page 2 of 9
