Base <br />flood elevation lines show the locations of the expected whole- <br />, <br />foot water-surface elevations of the base (lOO-year) flood. This <br />map is developed in accordance with the latest flood insurance <br />, <br />map prep~rat:ion guidelines published by the Federal Emergency <br />Manageme$t Agency. <br />, <br />I <br />i <br /> <br />OTHER STUDIES <br /> <br />The U.S. Army forps of Engineers prepared a 1974 Flood Plain Information <br />report for Fountain Creek in Manitou springs (Reference 3). Discharges <br />and cross sectton data determined by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers <br />were used in t?e hydraulic analyses for Fountain Creek downstream of <br />the Road to th~ Cave of the Winds. <br />i <br />A Flood Insura$ce Study has been prepared for the unincorporated areas <br />of El Paso Cou~ty (Reference 8). The detailed analysis for Fountain <br />Creek upstream'of the Road to the Cave of the Winds prepared for the <br />I <br />El Paso County! Flood Insurance Study, was included in the Flood Insurance <br />, <br />Study for Mani~ou Springs. Sutherland Creek and Ruxton Creek studied <br />by detailed methods within the City of Manitou Springs, were not studied <br />as part of thelFlood Insurance Study for the unincorporated areas of <br />El Paso County I due to the different scopes of study. In addition, the <br />approximate an~lysis of Williams Canyon and Beckers Lane Tributary within <br />the city was not studied as part of the El Paso County study due to <br />the different scopes of study. In all other areas, the two studies <br />I <br />are in general: agreement. <br /> <br />A Flood Insurance Study <br />I <br />Springs (Refer$nce 12). <br />with the results of the <br />I <br /> <br />is being prepared for the adjacent City of Colorado <br />The results of this study will be in agreement <br />Colorado Springs study. <br /> <br />2l <br />
