Weather modification "as eA1Pected to have little impact
except in increasing food supply during extreme drought
years.

We are currently planning n\"o additional \'\urkshops on:
Keather :lodification on non-point source pollution; and
Kea~~er nodification on lake and strea~ biota.

(1) Effects of

(2) effects of

Our research has produced a 1200-1400 citation bibliography about
weather modification and ecology and we expect to publish it this calendar
year.

A Illajor effort has centered on development of a historical cl:ir.iatic
data base and simulated effects of weather modification "upon the snow-
packs.

As a basis for the evaluation of weather modification upon the ecology
of the .~erican River Basin, the available historical data for precipita-
tion, temperature, sno~'Pack depth, density, and \"ater content for the
Forest Service's Central Sierra Snow Laboratory has been assembled and
arialyzed.

The Laboratory is located 1 mile (1.6 kn) north of the A.llerican
River Basin at 6900 feet (2103 m) elevation. This elevation is mid"\o.'aY
bet\.,;een the lower elevation of the snow zone and the crest of the moun-
tains in the central Sierra.

Precipitation data for the past 76 years, taken from the records of
three stations, have been used to compile a precipitation record for
the area. All stations are \dthin 3 miles (4.8 ko) of one another.
We have made double mass plots of data fro~ these three stations and
see no deviation as a result of station change.

-18-
