(A 10 n.mi.
separation from the seeding aircraft must be maintained.)
Such a flight pattern will document the effects of lifting,
and speed shear, and the diffusion of the plume.

Either type of release may be with VFR (visual flight rules)
or IFR (instrument flight rules) conditions over the Happy
Jack region. If the latter, the cloud physics aircraft will
be automatically recording microphysical data while
conducting the tracing mission. The VFR plume tracing
missions will be flown when high or mid-level cloud cover
minimizes the effects of radiational heating or cooling at
the surface.

B. General scheduling
The field operations period will commence on January 21, 1987
and continue through March 17, 1987. All observing equipment
will be in place, calibrated, tested, and fully operational for
the first day of the field season.

Potentially, operations will be conducted on any day during the
period with the exception of February 16 which is a Federal
holiday.
