Precipitation gauge network

Belfort weighing precipitation gauges will be maintained at the
seven locations shown on figure 1. The purpose of the gau~le
network is to provide information on storm precipitation rates
and amounts, and on spatial variability. The latter, taken
together with other types of measurements, will indicate the
degree of storm uniformity. Widespread storms might be expected
to provide a rather uniform distribution of precipitation
amounts. However, if vigorous convection occurs, precipitation
may be quite variable.
